Offbeat Career Opportunities to Explore – A Session for aspiring career seekers
Offbeat Career Opportunities / Alternate career options
Offbeat career opportunities to explore were discussed with students in our online event on 3rd June 2022. This session was conducted by Sandip Banerjee , a vocational education specialist. He is a mentor who can answer questions pertaining to Vocational Careers , one of the mentor pages on our website under the Ask Our Mentors section which has a constellation of mentors from different domains who can handle queries pertaining to their domain.
The session on Offbeat Career Opportunities was conducted as a Facebook live session. The link is furnished below.
The session was also attended via Google meet. We had graduate students who are career seekers and also their coach and other interested people attending the session. We had over 65 people logged in and more are checking out the live session posted on our profile later.
Sandip Banerjee spoke about the multiple offbeat career opportunities and alternative career options available today that are catching steam and how students need to be aware of these offbeat career opportunities and prepare themselves to avail these options. The students need to identify their interests, skills and their strength areas. Then they need to check what skills are essential to succeed in the career pursuits. They need to research on career opportunities available to suit their skill sets and also hone skills that can help them to pursue such careers. They need to understand the importance of soft skills along with their subject matter knowledge and technical skills – specially communication skills.
Mr Siraj Mallik, the teacher who had joined the session along with his students asked a pertinent question at the end. he wanted to know the job security available in such alternative careers. Mr Banerjee clarified that all careers except traditional government jobs are market linked and performance oriented. There is tough competition in today’s world and job security is mythical. Everyone has to strive to stay updated and abreast with the changes and also keep enhancing abilities and skills.
You can view the event through the FB live link and we have also recorded the events separately. The you tube link is furnished below. We look forward to more such events in the near future and hope to widen the horizon for career seekers.
